Fort Valley State University

Fort Valley State University is a public historically black university in Fort Valley, Georgia. It is part of the University System of Georgia and a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. As the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, Fort Valley State University is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,500 students. Approximately 90% of the current student body is of African-American descent.

The university established in 1895 is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state’s peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia’s second-largest public university in area. Fort valley State is a great school for students who want to attend university but don’t want to feel overwhelmed by a big campus. FVSU is a community driven school and it feels like one big family. There’s a great variety of Majors and extracurricular activities. I the atmosphere is great.
