Michelson Institute For Intellectual Property Partners With B-CU

Written by the Bethune- Cookman University Newsroom,

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Michelson Institute For Intellectual Property. The Institute aims to bring intellectual property (IP) education to a new generation of creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs, and we have so much talent at B-CU that will grow and thrive because of this relationship. Michelson IP will be providing digital curricula, resources, and $25,000 grants to B-CU and other HBCUs around the country.

Dr. Dennis Pires, Tenured Associate Professor at the College of Business and Entrepreneurship is grateful for the relationship: “I would like to thank the Michelson Institute for giving us the opportunity to participate in the first of its kind HBCU IP Futures Collaborative. These resources help us expose our students to the critical concepts and knowledge with regards to Intellectual Property. It is our goal that our students, especially those with an entrepreneurial mindset, have a strong understanding on how to protect their ideas and innovations by using the Michelson Institute Intellectual Property Curricula as a foundation.”

“Our nation’s HBCUs are a wellspring of creativity and ingenuity,” said Gary K. Michelson, M.D., founder and co-chair of the Michelson 20MM Foundation. “The Collaborative will further uplift these students in identifying and securing their valuable IP for the benefit of generations to come.”

Having access to these valuable tools and resources will help to equip our students, particularly in Business, Entrepreneurship, STEM, and creative fields with a deeper knowledge of Intellectual Property to help them thrive in their careers down the road.
