An agreement focused on the advancement of educational and career opportunities for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels at both Alabama State University and Michigan’s Grand Valley State University (GVSU) will be formalized on April 25. The agreement will support students in a master’s degree program in engineering/computing and help diversify the talent pipeline for employers who are seeking engineers.
“Representatives between ASU and Grand Valley State University will finalize the agreement that creates a pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree (Computer Science) from ASU and earn a master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Applied Computer Science at GVSU,” said Dr. Tanjula Petty, assistant provost for Student Success and Special Initiatives.
Petty explained that this is the first collaborative agreement between the two institutions of higher education.
“We hope that once students see the benefits of such a program, they will explore this initiative and opportunity to continue their education. This collaboration will allow students to benefit from the best strengths of both universities — receiving a solid foundation in science and technology and exposure to specialized courses, research, and connections,” Petty stated.
