Xavier University of Louisiana raised more than $1 million during its annual online, social media-driven fundraising event – Give.Love.Xavier (GLX) Day on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. This year’s theme was “In the Spirit of Love.” The Office of Alumni Relations launched the Give.Love.Xavier initiative 10 years ago to strengthen alumni engagement.
“The remarkable response to the Give.Love.Xavier Fundraiser will fund many need-based scholarships and other financial aid that will assist students in continuing the pursuit of their dreams of a Xavier degree,” said Xavier University of Louisiana President Dr. Reynold Verret. “The success of this year’s event perfectly sums the mission we were gifted by our foundress, St. Katharine Drexel- to educate the next generation of qualified, capable professionals that will create a more just and humane society.”
The GLX fundraiser has grown to include alumni, friends of Xavier and other supporters that come together for one day each year to show their support for the university with financial contributions, including the participants of Give.Love.Xavier’s Spirit Week, one of the university’s initiatives that welcomes participants from all over the country to encourage donations. This year, spirit week included several on-campus events, including virtual events featuring Mister and Miss Xavier University as well as a kickoff parade on Xavier’s campus.
The funds generated during this year’s Give. Love. Xavier Day will assist Xavier University of Louisiana in meeting its current and most pressing needs associated with transitioning back to safe, in-person learning, improving virtual learning technology, providing need-based financial assistance for students, food security, and campus wellness and infrastructure.
“We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s Give.Love.Xavier fundraising event.” said Kimberly Reese, assistant vice president of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. “These funds directly benefit so many Xavierites. The incredible contributions of our alumni, campus family, communities and other friends of Xavier support the university’s goal to offer students the quality education they each deserve.”
Last year, thousands of donors contributed over $900,000 and since the initiative’s inception, Give.Love.Xavier Day has raised more than $5 million for the University.
