Thirteen Edward Waters University student leaders attended the National Association of Student Affairs (NASAP) Student Leadership Institute (SLI) May 31st – June 6th in Savannah, Georgia on the beautiful campus of Savannah State University.

The Student Leadership Institute is an intensive, interactive, and stimulating leadership program developed by HBCU administration aimed to develop HBCU student leaders.

Our EWU delegation attended sessions and activities aimed at leadership topics to include gaining a holistic overview of their respective roles and responsibilities; conflict resolution, leadership  inventory styles, problem solving. The SLI experience provides for a collaborative space with seasoned student affairs professionals who help to develop invaluable skills in our student leaders.

Student Government Association, Royal Court, NPHC and Tiger Nation Student leaders engaged in programming and collaboration with student leaders in like-roles across the HBCU spectrum. We are excited for them to return to campus to serve as solution-based catalysts for empowerment and collaboration.

Our very own 2022-2023 SGA President, Ms. Patricia Johnson, was inducted into the National Consortium of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Student Government Association Presidents and was elected to serve as the Consortium’s Director of Legal Affairs for the 2022-2023 academic year.
