Dillard University president Dr. Rochelle L. Ford has announced that Marion Bracy will be joining the University as the vice president for the Division of Facilities and Real Estate Planning. In his role, Bracy will serve as the chief administrator of facilities maintenance, grounds services, and custodial and housekeeping services. Bracy will begin August 22.

“It is a pleasure to have Marion Bracy return to The Oaks,” said Ford. “With his vast experience and level of commitment, I am confident that he will help move Dillard forward with facilities that withstand the forecasts, a strategic preventative maintenance plan, a major reduction in deferred maintenance, new building projects especially for housing, better environmental sustainability, enhanced risk prevention and improved accessibility and beautification.”

A 1984 graduate of Dillard, Bracy brings with him over 35 years of experience. Having served as vice president for facility planning and management at Xavier University of Louisiana for almost 25 years, Bracy led efforts that resulted in over $250 million in educational related construction and increased Xavier’s size by 50% in 10 years. Bracy also increased Xavier’s FEMA funding from an anticipated $5 million to exceed $100 million. Additionally, he initiated a plan to reduce 83 million pounds of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere in eight years; and Bracy directed the design of three Silver LEED Certified Buildings. Prior to Xavier, Bracy served as the assistant director of the physical plant and the director of administration at Dillard.

“Returning to Dillard is special for me,” said Bracy. “To have the opportunity to serve my alma mater, with its rich legacy, is something that I definitely look forward to.”

Bracy is a member of several organizations:  the Association of Higher Education Facility Officers, the Louisiana Association of Physical Plant Administrators, the International Facility Management Association and the Louisiana Federal Property Assistance Agency advisory board. He is also a member of the Algiers Charter School Association board.
