Dillard University’s director of human resources, Brittney Richardson, has been selected as an honoree in CityBusiness’ 2022 Women of the Year and Nonprofit Organizations. The Women of the Year award recognizes women whose success and contributions in the community have moved the region forward.

Richardson was selected as an honoree because of her servant leadership. She has been the University’s human resources director since 2015. In her role, she serves as a workforce advocate, and is responsible for implementing policies and practices that positively impact employees, as well as being an advisor and strategic partner to University administration.

Richardson, who is a graduate of Tuskegee University, affirms that there is no place like attending or working at an HBCU. “The strong sense of community is the beauty of being a part of an HBCU. I’ve positioned myself as an ambassador for Dillard within my community because I am committed to seeing the University prosper,” said Richardson.

In addition to her responsibilities at Dillard, Richardson has served as president of the Louisiana Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter for College and University Professional Association of Human Resources (CUPA-HR); she was recognized for the Southern Region Distinguished Service Award in Human Resources, as well as appointed to the Southern Region Board of CUPA-HR; she was appointed chair of the National CUPA-HR Public Policy Committee and the City of New Orleans Civil Service Commission. Richardson has also served on Ursuline Academy’s Diversity Equity and Belonging Committee, where her daughter attends high school.

“God has given me the knowledge and ability to contribute to the greater good of making our city and community better,” Richardson said.
