Alabama State Athletics held its first SWARMAS1 Coaches’ Caravan this summer and Hornet pride was on full display with more than $110,000 raised during visits to nine cities across Hornet Nation.

ASU Athletic Director, Dr. Jason Cable, said the tour donations show the commitment and passion of our alumni and supporters. Donations continue to come in to the Athletics Department due to the excitement generated from the tour.

“The SWARMAS1 Coaches’ Caravan was an excellent opportunity for our coaches to share their vision for their programs and for me to share my vision for the Athletic Department with our fans and supporters,” said Cable.  “We are committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience in the key priority areas of academic incentive, nutrition, facilities, student-athlete development and championships.  The resources generated from the SWARMAS1 tour will propel student-athlete initiatives in the aforementioned areas and set a solid foundation for success.”

The SWARMAS1 Coaches’ Caravan kicked off in Montgomery, Ala., and concluded in Mobile, Ala., while making stops in Dothan, Ala., Columbus, Ga., Atlanta, Ga., Huntsville, Ala., Washington D.C., Houston, Texas, and Birmingham, Ala.

Each stop on the SWARMAS1 Coaches’ Caravan tour featured receptions where alumni and other supporters were able to meet head coaches from ASU’s various Division 1 teams. They were able to ask questions about the Hornet athletic program and hear firsthand about plans for the coming seasons.

“Our coaches and staff were so appreciative of the tremendous welcome and support from Hornet Nation,” said Deputy Athletic Director Cyrus Russ. “The pride and enthusiasm for Alabama State and all our athletic teams was obvious. Be on the lookout for release dates for the SWARMAS1 Tour ’23.”
