Dr. Heshmat Aglan, Dean of the College of Engineering at Tuskegee University, has been appointed to serve as a member of a committee of the NASA Advisory Council. This committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration through cutting-edge advancements in technology and engineering.
“It is my pleasure to appoint you to serve as a member of the Technology, Innovation, and Engineering Committee of the NASA Advisory Council,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson. “This committee reports to the Council, which is the senior external advisory body to which I turn for assistance in addressing important program and policy matters related to the U.S. space and aeronautics programs. I am certain that NASA will benefit from your breadth of knowledge and experience.”
The committee’s scope includes all NASA programs that could benefit from technological research and innovation. The committee will collaborate closely with NASA’s engineering and science directorates to evaluate and advise on emerging technologies and policy matters related to the U.S. space and aeronautics programs. Dr. Aglan will serve as a subject matter expert on the committee for two years.
“This is an exceptional opportunity for Dean Aglan and an indication of the expertise he shares with our students,” said Dr. Charlotte P. Morris, Tuskegee University president. “His expertise in innovative engineering research will be instrumental in driving NASA’s technological advancements in a profound way.”
Dr. Aglan said he was honored by this recognition of his work and is looking forward to collaborating with other members of the committee.
