VUU faculty and staff came together to raise funds in support of student scholarships to help support the university’s mission to develop scholars, leaders and lifelong learners.
“On behalf of the faculty and staff Philanthropy Committee I would like to thank those who participated in the “Jazzing for a Purpose” kick-off faculty and staff giving event,” said Joseph Brooks Assistant Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “I want to give a special shout-out to the planning committee that organized this event Dr. Natalie Delbridge, Dr. Darius Beechaum, Dr. Sharonda Ragland, and Deborah Alston. I also want to recognize Mrs. Fayesha Cole and the VUU Jazz Ensemble for providing outstanding entertainment that added to a great afternoon of fun and fellowship,” Brooks added.
Over fifty faculty and staff attended the event, and 28 VUU employees made a contribution through the event via payroll deduction and or a monetary donation to the university totaling $5,700 during this first event.
“We have received 38 donations from faculty and staff since the inception of this campaign, totaling over $9,500,” Brooks said.
