Dillard University’s Society of Physics Students (SPS) Chapter has achieved the esteemed title of a 2022-23 Distinguished Chapter by the National Council, a recognition earned by only a handful of chapters out of 890 physics departments across the nation.

The chapter’s success was attributed to its active participation in professional meetings, including local, zone, and national SPS gatherings, and engagement in SPS programs. Additionally, their outreach efforts aimed at grades K-12 and the broader public have fostered a passion for physics and science.

Moreover, the chapter’s commitment to community service and its role in student recruitment and retention have significantly contributed to the growth of the physics enthusiast community. Their dynamic participation in social events has further strengthened the sense of belonging among members.

Presidential Professor Dr. Abdalla Darwish expressed his appreciation, stating, “This is a very prestigious award, a handful of chapters get this award out of 890 physics departments in the country.”

Dillard University celebrates this significant achievement and looks forward to the ongoing contributions of the SPS Chapter in advancing physics education and outreach.
