Rolling Back DEI

Rolling back DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)refers to companies and organizationsreducing or ending their DEI programs and initiatives. President Trump’s executive order inJanuary 2025 initiated DEI rollbacks in the federal government, leading tochanges in policiesand programs at agencies like NASA. As time has progressed other big companies have rolled back DEI policies and have suffered tremendously from boycotts like Target.

On Wednesday, Bryant announced that he was going to put pressure on Dollar General, saying that the company had “walked away from DEI.””Target is canceled since they have betrayed and walked away from our community, and we’vegone on from there. We’re done with Target, and then our next focus will be around Dollar General.” Bryant said that he is not calling for a full boycott due to there being parts of thecountry where the stores are the only locations where consumers can get produce.

Bryant said the electronic protest is beginning immediately. “Like other corporations, DollarGeneral has bowed to pressure from the Trump administration and rolled back their diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives,” Bryant stated. “Dollar General also needs to be heldaccountable for failing to invest in the very Black and low-income communities that make up thebackbone of their customer base. This isn’t just a corporate retreat−it’s a betrayal of the peoplethey profit from.”
