Charles Edmond Wins HBCU Sports Broadcaster of the Year Again

Vicksburg resident Charles Edmond has been named the HBCU Sports Broadcaster of the Year for the second consecutive year. The award was announced Saturday by HBCU Sports.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Edmond is a 1986 graduate of University City High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Grambling State University in 1991. In addition to his HBCU coverage, Edmond also serves as a radio broadcaster for Vicksburg High School football games.

Throughout his career, Edmond has earned numerous honors for his work in broadcasting, including:

  • Excellence in Broadcasting Award Competition, 1997
  • Sports Coverage Promotion of a Sporting Event: Alcorn vs. Southern University, 1998
  • Sports Coverage Promotion of a Sporting Event: Faculty, Alcorn vs. Texas Southern University, 2000
