Written By Lexx Thornton

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Guilford County Schools are hosting a special event with Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute (BHLI) to launch a course designed to introduce high school students to careers in healthcare and healthcare management.

The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in North Carolina A&T’s General Classroom Building, Room A208.

Students from The STEM Early College at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and A&T Four Middle College are eligible to take the course, with more than 20 enrolled this fall.

BHLI Founder and President John W. Bluford III, former vice chair of the N.C. A&T Board of Trustees will meet with students in the course and present them with free laptops through a collaboration with Best Buy.

The partnership incorporates BHLI’s Be the Change Model, which includes experiential learning, expert-led discussions with C-suite healthcare officials, site visits, and internships.

BHLI is a 501(c)(3) professional development program that prepares talented scholars for leadership roles in healthcare. Focused on eliminating disparities among underserved populations, it fosters innovation and workforce development to shape the next generation of healthcare leaders.
