The second annual Rochester HBCU Football Classic was held Saturday afternoon at the Rochester Community Sports Complex on Oak Street. The Central State University Marauders of Wilberforce, Ohio, took on the Lane College Dragons of Jackson, Tennessee.
Organizers say Saturday’s football game is “the centerpiece” of the Baldwin Richardson Foods Frederick Douglass HBCU Classic Weekend of Hope. The weekend was put on to help connect Rochester high school students with higher education opportunities.
The weekend kicked off with a HBCU College Fair where many HBCU members participated Thursday, and gave students a chance to learn about admissions, apply on-site, and learn about what financial aid options are available.
“This weekend is about community, education, and hope,” President and CEO at Baldwin Richardson Foods Co. Erin Tolefree said. “”We are proud to support this event that not only uplifts our youth but also celebrates the enduring legacy of HBCUs.”
