Voorhees University is one of just 11 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide chosen to participate in the newly launched HBCU Brilliance Initiative, a program of Reinvestment Fund designed to strengthen HBCUs through financial support, technical assistance, and advisory services.

The initiative provides selected schools with $40,000 grants and access to up to $1 million in flexible financing to support long-term institutional growth, infrastructure improvements, and fiscal stability.

Organizers say the program also aims to bolster the social and economic wellbeing of the communities surrounding participating universities.

Voorhees University is honored to be selected for this important program,” President Ronnie Hopkins said. “This initiative aligns with our vision of strengthening the University’s foundation while continuing to offer exceptional educational experiences for our students.

The HBCU Brilliance Initiative is intended to address nearly two centuries of inequity by equipping HBCUs with the tools and resources needed to thrive.

More than 90% of students at schools currently financed through Reinvestment Fund are Pell Grant recipients, and the majority are first-generation college students.
