WASHINGTON, DC — Howard University Vice President and Director of Athletics Kery Davis announced today that Head Football Coach Larry Scott has accepted an opportunity at Auburn University and will depart the program following a historic tenure leading the Bison.

“Coach Scott’s leadership helped elevate Howard Football on both the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and national stages, instilling a culture of excellence, accountability, and belief among student-athletes, coaches, and staff. His impact extended beyond the field, contributing to the continued momentum and visibility of Howard University Athletics. Under his direction, Howard was co-MEAC champion in 2023 and the outright 2024 MEAC champion, earning a berth in the Celebration Bowl — achievements that represent defining moments for our football program and our university. We thank Coach Scott for his leadership of the Bison football program, and we congratulate him on this next chapter and thank him for the foundation he helped build for our student-athletes, alumni, and supporters.

“We will immediately begin a national search for our next head football coach. The university remains committed to building upon the program’s recent success, building championship-level competitiveness, and providing a first-class student-athlete experience grounded in the values and legacy of Howard University.
