Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland open Houston’s Knowles-Rowland House: permanent homes for the chronically homeless, blending charity with community hope and healing.
In partnership with Bread of Life, Inc., Beyoncé Knowles, Tina Knowles, and Kelly Rowland have announced the opening of the Knowles-Rowland House in Houston, TX. After investing in the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth as members of Destiny’s Child in 1999, they have decided to transform the space into permanent housing for people who have experienced chronic homelessness.
Although the project has been planned since 2023, the official transformation was announced in March 2026, with $8.4 million invested to create a space to combat homelessness.
Beyond being a housing project, its connection to Bread of Life will expand its effectiveness in combating homelessness in Houston overall. Bread of Life is a nonprofit affiliate of St. John’s Downtown Church that has a range of services, including an emphasis on homelessness. Through its relationship with Temenos Community Development Corporation, residents will have access to counseling, treatment, and training that can lead to more meaningful change in their lives.
Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles, Blue Ivy Carter, and Rumi Carter attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the House’s grand opening in Houston today. In her speech, Beyoncé thanked the church where she was baptized for giving her the opportunity to reinvest in the same community that provided her foundation.
The Knowles-Rowland House features 31 units that, alongside the resourses from Temenos Community Development, will help to transform the lives of 31 households.
