Bluefield State College Baccalaureate Degree in International Studies is accepting applications from students who wish to prepare for careers that are global in their scope. The new degree program was recently approved Baccalaureate Degree by the Higher Learning Commission and the WV Higher Education Policy Commission
“This degree program will open several new career pathways for our students”, noted Dr. Ted Lewis, BSC Provost. “Students in the program will be supported with free passports and assistance for study abroad scholarships and language study through the BSC the Office of International Initiatives and its Director, Dr. Sudhakar R Jamkhandi.”
Students will be prepared for careers in transglobal businesses, US government agencies like the US State Department, US Agency for International Development, and entities whose focus is worldwide geopolitical affairs, Dr. Jamkhandi explained.
“In addition to Spanish, Bluefield State will offer Arabic and Russian in 2022-2023,” Jamkhandi added. “Faculty-led study abroad at our partner institutions in different continents will complement courses in the degree program. Custom-designed internships in cities where our international partner institutions are located will also be an option.”
Housed in BSC’s School of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences, this degree program is served by an advisory committee of professionals engaged in international studies and affairs at the national and international levels.
