On behalf of the Office of Intercultural Affairs and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, the Lavender Fund will proceed with applicants for the Lavender Fund Scholarship award. This scholarship was established to provide academic financial support for Howard University students who demonstrate positive sensitivity to, and involvement in, LGBTQ+ issues, promote visibility of LGBTQ+ life, and foster service and activism throughout the larger community.
“As Howard University President Dr Wayne Frederick shared recently, we are committed to advancing the efforts of the LGBTQ+ community on our campus and beyond,” said Vice President of Student Affairs Cynthia Evers, Ph.D. “The financial support that the Lavender Scholarship provides to students further highlights the important work being done to assure an environment of inclusiveness.”
To be eligible for this award, students must:
- Be an undergraduate, graduate or professional student enrolled at the University;
- Maintain a GPA that keeps the student in good standing;
- Be active in the LGBTQ+ community inside and outside of Howard; and
- Identify as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, or queer (the scholarship is open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, disability, age or veteran status).
