Hampton Announces 18 Recipients of $400,000 in New York Life STEM Academic Scholarships

Ā Hampton University announced today that $400,000 in scholarship support has been awarded to 18 worthy students. Funding for these scholarships was made possible by a grant from theĀ New York Life Foundation, the charitable arm of New York Life.Ā 

ā€œWe are grateful for the New York Life Foundationā€™s commitment to Hampton University and its students,ā€ said Dr. William R. Harvey, Hampton University President. ā€œThis scholarship funding from New York Life champions one of the Universityā€™s highest priorities and buttresses our effort to increase financial assistance for deserving students.ā€

Scholarships are awarded for the fall 2022 academic school year.Ā Ā Scholarship recipients are as follows:

Sixteen students received $20,000 renewable academic Scholarships, and two students received $40,000 academic scholarships, with pre-approved summer internships in New York Lifeā€™s coveted summer internship program.

Dr. Joyce Shirazi, School of Engineering and Technology Dean, said, ā€œThese scholars participated in a rigorous application, vetting, and interview process. Each is well-deserved of the scholarships for which they have been awarded. The committee which worked to manage this process was multi-disciplinary and each member is to be commended for their efforts.ā€
