The popular digital marketing course – Empower by GoDaddy – is back, and is again sponsored by Alabama State University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC). The free course is offered only to local small businesses headquartered in Alabama. Interested business owners should register online at https://asbdc.ecenterdirect
The executive director of the University’s SBDC, Andrea Rogers Mosley, explained that the six-week virtual course takes place from June 8 – July 13, on Thursdays, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
“Our GoDaddy Digital Marketing Course is back and is tailor-made for anyone who owns or manages a small business in Alabama and would like to obtain, free of charge, the resources to create a website, learn how to add your own content to it, and help to establish or improve a digital presence that will either offer lead generation for products or services or conduct a point of sale program — all free of charge,” Mosley said. “ASU’s SBDC has partnered with GoDaddy to provide a premium digital marketing curriculum, expert support, and services to small business owners in Alabama.”
She shared that the program also offers two years of free web hosting and online technical support. Mosley emphasized that all businesses that sign-up to take the course must be already established (startup or existing) and must be headquartered and located in Alabama to participate.
“Enrolling in the free course requires pre-registration and an entrepreneur qualification survey,” Moseley added.
Once the survey is reviewed, participants will receive an email notification of acceptance into the program, if qualified.
“Participation in the entire six-week course is mandatory to receive the free two-year web hosting,” Mosley stated.
SESSION TOPICS The topics during the course will include Evaluating Your Brand, Designing A Great Website, Creating Your Site Content, Getting Found through SEO, Creating Their E-Commerce Presence, Social Media Presence and Website Building Technical Assistance.
PROGRAM IS A POSITIVE GAME CHANGER
Through ASU’s collaboration with GoDaddy, the University’s Small Business Development Center has made it possible for more than 400 River Region small businesses to have an online presence, which is very important for the success and growth of any business.
“This GoDaddy cohort that we started last year has been continued due to the fact that it allows the SBDC to meet the high demand from local small businesses for such training. We owe a debt of gratitude to GoDaddy for being such a good community mentor,” said Mosley.
MOSLEY EXCITED TO CONTINUE THE PROGRAM Coming out of the shadow of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our program in 2022 was so successful that it motivated us to continue it,” Mosley stated. “Providing training, insight and mentorship to Central Alabama’s small businesses is what we exist to do, which also aligns with the ‘CommUniversity’ anchor, which was inspired by ASU President, Dr. Quinton T. Ross, Jr., and is part of the University’s Focus 2030 Strategic Plan.” |
