The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will host its 169th commencement exercises on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. (procession begins at 9:45) at the Pine Bluff Convention Center at 1 Convention Center Plaza. Robin Givens, an award-winning actress, director, author, and advocate for womenâs rights, will serve as the commencement speaker. The ceremony will be livestreamed at YouTube.com/UAPBTelevision. Givensâ career has spanned nearly four decades and includes leading roles in television series and films such as âHead of the Class,â âBeverly Hills Madam,â âThe Women of Brewster Place,â and âBoomerang.â Other acting credits include Tyler Perryâs âThe Family that Preysâ and âHouse of Payneâ âThe Fresh Prince of Bel Air,â and âThe Cosby Show.â Givens made her directorial debut with âMurder to Rememberâ for Lifetime Movie Network and recently directed CBSâ âSo Help Me Todd.â In 2007, she authored the autobiography âGrace Will Lead Me Home.â At age 19, Givens graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, becoming one of the youngest to attend the school, before beginning her acting career. She was spokesperson for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and received the Vital Link Award from the organization in recognition of her more than 20 years of dedicated service advocating for women, children, and families impacted by domestic violence.
