Alabama State University continues to be āWhere History is Madeā as the University now is among the first Historically Black College or Universities, HBCUs, in the nation to offer cannabis education programs as elective study courses. ASU also joins Jacksonville State University as one of only two schools in the state of Alabama to offer courses concerning legalized cannabis.
There are five different online cannabis courses ASU offers. TheĀ programs are: Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine; Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture; The Business of Cannabis; Cannabis Compliance and Risk Management; and Cannabis Product Development and Design.
The programs at Alabama State University are provided in association with Green Flower, a cannabis education and training company that focuses on educating those interested in working within the nationās legal cannabis workforce.
The Alabama legislature legalized cannabis for specific medical conditions in 2021, becoming the 36th state in the Union to do so. Since then, a total of 47 states have passed similar laws.
A number of specifics concerning the mechanics of Alabamaās new law are still being orchestrated, and until they are concluded, cannabis medical products are not available for legal purchase in Alabama.
