Deion Sanders’ OL Sends Prayers as HBCU Tragedy Rocks College Football Community With New Revelation

The death of a college student after an alleged hazing incident has rocked the world of football. Caleb Wilson, the deceased, who was a student at Southern University in Baton Rouge, passed away after he was rushed to a local hospital. The initial version of the incident had Wilson standing in line with others. Reacting to the news. Wilson’s family said his death has left “an unimaginable void in our hearts.”

Kahlil Benson, the offensive lineman of the Colorado Buffaloes, recently shared a statement standing in solidarity with a black college student who died in an incident. Throughout these past few days, there were murmurs of some wrongdoing in the neighborhood. The tragedy took place when the student was participating in an alleged hazing ritual involving his frat group. How did it all unfold?

As per WAFB, the incident occurred when Wilson was carrying out a ritual of taking pledges while standing in line with other friends. His friends brought him to the hospital at Baton Rouge General Hospital, where he was later declared dead. The turn in the story unfolded when it emerged, as per WAFB, that the frat group was actually involved in punching each other on the chest as a part of the inauguration ritual. Kahlil Benson shared a statement on his Instagram Story showing sympathy with the student:

Prayer Goes Out to The Family…God Heal our People and Forgive Those That Know Not“. He shared an Instagram post by ‘hbcbuzz’ that read that the initial statement given by the frat group was false, which alleged that Wilson collapsed at BREC Park. It also described that there were in total 9 pledges in the line in which Wilson collapsed and suffered a seizure in the warehouse where all this took place. The news is very unfortunate, and there is visible furor among the general public.

Also, a later revelation by WAFB stated that the members of the fraternity met even after the student was brought into the hospital at an undisclosed location. In this meeting only, it was alleged that the members of the fraternity group came up with the plan that Caleb Wilson collapsed in the park.

Thoughts and prayers pour in for Caleb Wilson

A candlelight vigil has been organized today at 5 PM by the university’s Student Association. Police are doing their investigations to identify the suspect behind the incidents. All the major events at the university have been paused, ranging from sororities, student clubs, fraternities, and recruitment. Wilson’s family has also released a statement…

The loss of Caleb has left an unimaginable void in our hearts, but your kindness and compassion have provided some solace. Caleb was a bright and talented young man with a promising future ahead of him. His passion for life, his dedication to his studies, and his love for music and the Southern University ‘Human Jukebox’ Marching Band were just a few of the many qualities that made him an extraordinary person“.

For those who don’t know, Caleb was a junior hailing from New Orleans pursuing mechanical engineering in college. Apart from this, he took an avid interest in musical instruments as he was a member and trumpet player in the Human Jukebox Marching Band. The university, since then, has issued a statement terming hazing a violation and a violation of the state law. They have also assured that they will cooperate fully to the full extent of the punishment and were committed to student safety and success in their curriculum.
