Oakwood University, a historically Black institution of higher learning & offers quality Christian Education that emphasizes academic excellence, promotes harmonious development of mind, body, and spirit, and prepares leaders in service for God and humanity.
It is a private, historically black Seventh-day Adventist university in Huntsville owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Established in 1896, the University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Department of Education of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (through the Adventist Accrediting Association) to award the associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.
Oakwood University owns and operates the Christian radio station WJOU 90.1 FM, formerly WOCG
