Edward Waters University (EWU) has teamed with M & S Management, in partnership with The Propel Center.

This partnership comes after The Propel Center selected Edward Waters University in December 2021 as one of the Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) to receive a $3 million impact grant collectively focused on Arts & Entertainment.

In February 2022, Dr. Charles Gibbs, President of The Propel Center, representatives from Apple, Inc. and EWU students presented a check in the amount of $300,000 to EWU President & CEO, Dr. A. Zachary Faison Jr. in support of academic programming, research, and learning opportunities particularly in the areas of the arts and entertainment industries.  Steve Higgs, CEO of M & S Management, along with Educational Specialist Lisa Sykes, M.Ed., helped facilitate a music video shot on the campus of Florida’s ‘Destination Institution’ of Emerging Eminence, by Hip-Hop artist K.O. Mason entitled “Street Poetry”, featuring the Edward Waters University “Triple Threat” marching band in March 2022.

Higgs said the video was an introduction for Edward Waters University to Propel and M & S Management. He added the video will be released soon and will be available online and various networks, such as BET and MTV.

M & S Management will also be working with EWU students to help build and create future executives in the art & entertainment world. “We are curating a two-week Executive Seminar in Atlanta, coming in June, where EWU students and three other HBCU’s will enter into a creative space the entire seminar,” said Educational Specialist Lisa Sykes, M.Ed.

The seminar will include executives from the entertainment industry, artists, videographers, and more.  Students also have the opportunity to earn a micro-certificate in either LogicPro or FinalCutPro and create music and videos with other students serving as the executives on those projects.
