David Solomon visits Howard University for Second Installment of Executive Lecture Series

Howard University School of Business will host its second Executive Lecture Series this year with a visit from finance expert David Solomon in the School of Business auditorium.

Solomon is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Prior to the lecture, a Goldman Sachs recruiting team will be distributing information about their company in the School of Business’ lobby.

Solomon joined Goldman Sachs as a partner in 1999.  From 2006 to 2016, he served as co-head of the firm’s Investment Banking Division. Before that, Solomon was global head of the Financing Group, which includes all capital markets and derivative products for the firm’s corporate clients. He previously served as the president and chief operating officer of the Goldman Sachs Group. joined Goldman Sachs as a partner in 1999.

Prior to joining the firm, Solomon held leadership roles at Irving Trust Company, Drexel Burnham and Bear Stearns. He is chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamilton College and serves on the board of The Robin Hood Foundation and the Board of Trustees of New York- Presbyterian Hospital. Solomon earned a B.A. in Political Science from Hamilton College.

The lecture topic, global markets and industry leaders, will be presented to a group of approximately 200 students, professors, and business school executives. Following the program, selected faculty, staff, and students will be treated to lunch with Goldman Sachs executives and School of Business deans. Students will get the invaluable opportunity to ask questions and gain insights from some of the world’s top business minds.

The rest of the day will be a Goldman Sachs takeover, beginning with an application launch celebration for the HPS Center for Financial Literacy on the School of Business patio. Current HPS scholars will participate in an asset and wealth management luncheon. Goldman Sachs representatives will host a senior leadership panel for all students to end the day.

Solomon’s lecture is the final lecture of this semester’s Executive Lecture Series. 2023 marks the 20th year the School of Business has hosted the Executive Lecture Series.
