The 86th annual Tuskegee‑Morehouse Classic is making its Capital City debut as part of Montgomery’s official HBCU Classic Weekend this fall.
Officials announced in April that the classic would make the move from Columbus, Georgia, to Cramton Bowl for the 2025 matchup. It is the first time that Montgomery will host the game.
“Montgomery is proud to welcome the Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic to the historic Cramton Bowl in 2025. This iconic rivalry not only showcases the excellence of HBCU athletics but also celebrates the profound cultural and historical contributions of Morehouse College and Tuskegee University,” said Mayor Steven Reed. “We look forward to hosting the student‑athletes, alumni, and fans for a weekend of unity, pride, and unforgettable moments that will resonate for years to come.”
The Tuskegee‑Morehouse Classic kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
City officials say the “exciting addition complements the signature Alabama State University Homecoming festivities—a cornerstone of the HBCU Classic Weekend.” The Hornets are set to face Bethune-Cookman that Saturday at 2 p.m.
The weekend weaves together football, legendary marching bands, tailgates, cultural celebrations, concerts, and more over multiple days in Montgomery.
While full event schedules are still being finalized, here’s what the city says fans and guests can expect:
- Live concerts featuring national and local talent
- Alumni mixers and reunions across the city
- Step shows and cultural performances
- Tours of Montgomery’s Civil Rights landmarks
- Family-friendly activities in the city’s downtown and riverfront districts
- A Ferris wheel at the entrance to the Montgomery Riverfront
