The BOT is creating new opportunities for more alumni voices

By Tangela Richardson The Board of Trustees has embarked on a comprehensive engagement plan to expand the number of ways alumni can become involved with the University. These new opportunities encourage participation and create more leadership roles through three separate board initiatives. “The Board of Visitors, the Trustee Candidate Identification Advisory Council (TCIAC), and the Alumni Leadership Academy are all important initiatives launched by the Board of Trustees,” says Trustee Chairman Laurence C. Coppin State University Police Host Inaugural Shop with a Cop Event

Courtesy of Coppin State University Ahead of the holidays, Coppin State University Police Department hosted three Coppin Academy students for a shopping trip to Arundel Mills Mall for the department’s inaugural Shop with a Cop event, December 16. Coppin Academy students were selected for the Shop with a Cop event, based on essays they wrote about how the police and community can come together. The students were awarded a total of $1,000 to shop for the holidays. By Andrew Skerritt Among the 600 Florida A&M University (FAMU) graduates earning degrees during the fall 2022 commencement was Jerry Clark,Jr., who earned a Ph.D. in physics. Originally from Miami, Clark attended Booker T. Washington Sr. High School before attending FAMU, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s in physics and completed his doctoral coursework. Hampton University Announces Enhanced Partnership with Yale University, Creation of Pennington Fellowship

Courtesy of Hampton University Hampton University announced today that it has entered into a collaborative partnership with Yale University, which has created the Pennington Fellowship. The new scholarship program will support New Haven public school students who choose to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Pennington Fellowship will support 10 to 12 students in each college-bound cohort for four years, with each student receiving up to $20,000 toward tuition and fees per year. Mellon Foundation to use over three years to develop a digital humanities infrastructure at the college. This year, CAU conducted a Workshop Series and Summer Institute aimed at helping faculty and scholars in graduate school from historically black colleges, and universities think deeply about digital humanities and how to build this type of program at their respective institutions. The Super 16 presented by Ozone, the largest women’s collegiate invitational with more than 300 gymnasts, opens the first day of the women’s 2023 collegiate season. The two-day competition has four competitive sessions, with team, all-around and event champions for each session, and all-session tickets go on sale to the public today. Florida A&M Ranked By U.S. News & World Report As Top Public HBCU

Released Sept. 13, FAMU also ranked No. 103 nationally among public universities.
