Benedict College Hosts Summer Transportation Institute

Courtesy of Benedict College The Summer Transportation Institute at Benedict College looks to expose high school students across South Carolina to educational and career opportunities in the transportation industry. “Transportation is often times thought of to be just only engineers but transportation is such a vast industry,” said program director Dr. Vareva Harris. The four-week residential program is funded by the Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration and will run from July 5-28. Xavier Alumnus Dan Schneider Inducted Into PLS Society

Courtesy of Xavier University of Louisiana Xavier alumnus Dan Schneider (‘75) was recently inducted into the national Pharmacy Leadership Society, or Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS). Schneider, RPh, graduated from Xavier University’s College of Pharmacy (COP) in 1975 and practiced pharmacy until 2015. For over 20 years, he has advocated against the drug epidemic. After losing his son in a drug-related shooting in 1999 and lacking answers from police, Schneider conducted his own investigation to solve his son’s case. He spoke about the opioid epidemic in 2001, a decade before it was declared nationally, and his story is told in Netflix’s

TSU Hosts Over 15 Enriching Summer Camps for Students

By Lincoln University of Missouri Prospective students applying for admission to Lincoln University of Missouri may now submit their application with or without ACT/SAT scores. Tuskegee Launches 1881 Challenge for Founding Day Giving

By Tuskegee University Tuskegee University will offer individuals an opportunity to celebrate its 141st founding date with the 1881 Challenge, the university’s annual giving campaign. The University will launch the 81-hour online fundraising event beginning on July 1 at 3 p.m. CST culminating on the university’s founding date, July 4 at 11:59 p.m. CST. DSU Aviation Program Gets $100K Boost from Retired Pilot

By Delaware State University A retired United Airlines pilot and his wife has translated their admiration of Delaware State University’s Aviation Program into a $100,000 personal donation in support of the flight training. Bob and Karen Fischer of Lewes, Del., presented University President Tony Allen with the $100K check during a luncheon in their honor at the University on June 22. Mr. Fischer is a retired 34-year pilot who flew 24 years for United Airlines and 10 years for the now-defunct Pan Am Airlines.
