Wiley College Clears Balances for Class of 2022 Graduates

Courtesy of Wiley College Wiley College Class of 2022 graduated today with not only their degree but with their balances cleared by an anonymous donor. Over 100 students gathered on the Pemberton Sports Complex Field to participate in Wiley College’s 133rd Commencement Convocation and were surprised when they were informed that their balances were cleared by President & CEO Herman J. Felton, Jr. J.D., Ph.D. Although Wiley College is committed to access and has reduced its tuition in the past years to $17,500 (tuition, fees, and room and board), students sometimes still will have balances. Henson, award-winning actress and Howard University College of Fine Arts alumna who graduated in 1995 with her baby boy in her hands, returned on May 7 as the commencement speaker. Henson was conferred an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, just before delivering remarks. This year, Howard University awarded 1,953 degrees, including 1,225 undergraduate degrees and 711 graduate degrees. Hudson of Jackson State University (JSU) stood alongside United States Congressman of the 2nd District, Bennie G. Thompson in the Bankplus Atrium of the College of Business on the Campus of JSU. Anderson celebrated the exciting moment on Sunday with an Instagram post, in which he called his graduation “a full circle moment” that was “30 years in the making.” He also shared several photos from the big day, including one with fellow actor and Howard grad, Taraji P.
