Spelman Names New Arts & Innovation Center for Dr. Campbell

Courtesy of Spelman College Spelman College announced today that it will name the new 84,000-square-foot Center for Innovation & the Arts in honor of Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., the 10th president of the College. Alcorn State Opens Women’s Business Center in Natchez

Courtesy of Alcorn State University Alcorn State University provides business resources to entrepreneurs with its new business center. The Women’s Business Center at Alcorn held its grand opening, Thursday, April 14, on the Natchez campus. In September 2020, the U. S. Small Business Administration announced grant funding for new SBA Women’s Business Centers. The WBCs will be hosted in rural and underserved markets, widen the footprint, and partner with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). FAMU Honors Otis Mason & William Pickard at Commencement

By Andrew Skerritt Florida A&M University (FAMU) will confer honorary degrees on retired educator Otis A. Mason and entrepreneur and philanthropist William F. Pickard, Ph.D. during the Friday, April 29 commencement ceremony. Both men will receive the Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree. At the 6 p.m. event in the Lawson Multipurpose Center, FAMU alumnus, St. Petersburg Mayor Ken T. Welch, will address graduates from the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health, School of Business and Industry and the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. A military commissioning ceremony is also scheduled for Friday evening.

Bluefield State Launches Engineering Industry Advisory Board

Julian Graduate Research Assistantship for the 2022-2023 academic year. Claflin’s Daa’iyah Fogle Named 2022 Disney UNCF Scholar

By Claflin University Claflin University Senior Daa’iyah Fogle has been named a 2022 Disney UNCF Corporate Scholar. She is one of 21 students from four-year institutions across the country, including many Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Fogle, a student writer in Claflin University’s Office of Communications and Marketing, is a mass communications major from Greenville, S.C. The scholars will receive a $5,000 annual scholarship and a paid summer internship at The Walt Disney Company, which begins in May.
