The faculty and staff of Talladega College began its 2022 Spring semester by hosting a Faculty/Staff Institute. During this meeting, various divisions throughout the College presented updates from the previous year and announced upcoming projects for the current year.

Although the meeting was held in a virtual setting, the accolades reported during the gathering were evidence of the College’s continued success. Since taking the charge of Acting President, Dr. Lisa Long has led the institution in an unprecedented amount of giving which has resulted in over $6 million in donations. With these funds, the College will develop scholarships for current and future students and improve the overall infrastructure of the campus.

“God has already determined the path for us, and now we must labor so that the manifestations of achievement are revealed,” said Long.

Talladega College recently applied for several grants in the areas of technology, education, and safety.

“Affirmations of goodness were present during the Institute and is evident among those who dream big for our students,” said Dr. Rebecca McKay, Dean of Social Sciences and Education. “Hearing the voices and the dreams for the coming year helped me so much; the Institute felt more like a homecoming.”

Dr. Evelyn White-Colley, the sole proprietor of Innovative Instruction & Consulting Company, served as the presenter for the event. In her presentation, titled Achieving Best Customer Service, she explained the significance of customer service and how our actions impact the entire brand of the institution.

“If you don’t know where you are going, you will not know when you get there,” said White-Colley. “We have to set goals for ourselves because this allows us to gauge a true measure of success.”

According to Marianne Ogutu, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development, White’s presentation was riveting. “She reminded us to remain steadfast in providing the best customer service experience to our students because they are the most valuable assets to the institution.”

Delois Cook, Assistant Professor of English with over 33 years of service at Talladega College, said that this was one of the best Institutes that she had ever attended. “The presentations were wonderful, and the information presented by Dr. White was ideal for our current climate.”

The Institute concluded with a mandatory Title IX training which was presented by Attorney Clay Carr of Boardman, Carr, Petelos, Watkins & Ogle, P.C.
