College of Nursing announces plans to offer a Master of Science in Nursing

Courtesy of Dillard University Dillard University has announced plans to offer a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) in its College of Nursing. The degree will be offered in the fall 2023 semester pending approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The Louisiana State Board of Nursing accepted the program’s notification at its June 16 meeting. Once approved, the M.S.N. will be the first master’s degree in Dillard’s 153 year history. Savannah State University Awarded $3.1 Million Grant for Upward Bound Program

Courtesy of Savannah State University Savannah State University (SSU) has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Education for $3.1 million to continue the Upward Bound program for an additional five-year period beginning June 1, 2023. Tuskegee University Joins Thermo Fisher Scientific COVID-19 testing initiative for Historically Black Colleges and Universitie

By Tuskegee Univesity Tuskegee University has joined a growing list of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) benefiting from a $25 million COVID-19 testing initiative from the world leader in serving science, Thermo Fisher Scientific. The company recently committed to supporting the efforts of HBCUs to make COVID-19 testing available at no cost to all returning students, faculty, and staff throughout the 2020-21 school year. Through “The Just Project,” the initiative named after pioneering biologist Ernest Everett Just, Thermo Fisher will donate $25 million in diagnostic instruments, test kits, and related supplies as well as provide technical assistance to HBCUs

Jackson State University receives $10K grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to support adult literacy

By Kyle Kidd  The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded Jackson State University’s School of Lifelong Learning a $10,000 grant to support adult literacy at their Continuing Education Learning Center (CELC).  This local grant is part of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s recent $10.5 million donation to support summer, family, and adult literacy programs. It represents the organization’s largest one-day grant donation in its 29-year history.
